  • Will a resin-bound walkway stay slip-resistant when wet?

    Yes. The grip comes from the aggregate particle size and open texture, not a surface coating. As long as the correct stone grade is specified for the gradient, the finish stays slip-resistant when wet and does not polish smooth under regular foot traffic.

  • What happens if I delay fixing a cracked or icy walkway?

    Water enters existing cracks, freezes, and widens them through each freeze-thaw cycle. A surface that is borderline this winter is likely to heave or break apart by spring, making the sub-base repair more extensive and the overall job more expensive.

  • Does resin-bound paving meet Boulder County stormwater rules?

    Permeable resin paving is SUDS-compliant and allows stormwater to drain through the surface layer rather than running off into storm drains. The contractor confirms the drainage specification meets local requirements in the written project scope.

  • How does resin-bound hold up through Boulder’s freeze-thaw cycles?

    Proper sub-base preparation is the key factor. The installer assesses the existing base for frost heave risk before laying any resin-bound surface. With the correct sub-base depth and drainage, the surface resists the movement that cracks rigid paving materials.

  • Can resin-bound walkways be installed on steep slopes?

    Yes, but the aggregate grade and resin mix must be matched to the gradient. The contractor specifies both in writing before work starts. Steeper gradients require a coarser stone grade to maintain grip and a mix viscosity that does not slump before it cures.
